INDECENT

Written by Paula Vogel

Directed by Acadia Barrengos

University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Catawba Theater

In designing the scenery for Indecent, my main motivation was to create an open space to allow the show to travel throughout Europe and to New York from 1906-1943. The entire space was to be reminiscent of the attic where the play meets its end but retain versatility as to not limit the storytelling of the troupe throughout the entire length.

Fun Facts:

  • Our production of "Indecent" concluded with real rain onstage. Using a mechanism located in the grid, a 12' arc of rain was able to fall directly onto the floorboards and collect under the deck.
  • This show was completely hand drafted with elevations/models hand built and painted.
  • Projections shown at the top of each scene contain both English and Yiddish translations
